The ‘Hustle’ photo series was born on a rainy night in New Orleans at a neighborhood dive bar in mid-city. I was seeking to find shelter from the dewy New Orleans weather.
When I arrived, Lilly Lewis and Miss Joy Clark were getting ready to perform. The minute the first key was sounded out, I was instantly moved and began to capture the show. This by far has been one of the memorable nights I’ve had in New Orleans.
This is dedicated to the music and hard-working musicians of New Orleans. Their dedication and drive, impressive sass and swag, and deep-rooted musical talent are beyond inspiring. I respectfully I sought to capture raw emotions and vulnerabilities felt, candid and fragile moments where an artist sinks in the music. I am grateful for being let into their creative space.
The Hustle Series will be displayed at The West Baton Rouge Museum from January 7th, 2024 through April 6th, 2024.
