Curve City Book Concept

New Orleans is a 24-hour museum of Inspiration, the greatest muse for any Artist I’m sure! There is a unique story to be told on every corner and life oozes through the streetscapes and old homes that have endured the strongest of hardships and storms.

It was on my first visit to the city that I began to conceptualize various photography essays that over the years, have continued to build on. The essays were inspired by the real everyday life of the city, by the people, the streetscapes, and by the deep-rooted traditions nestled within the city. I have been blessed so far on this journey to experience an entire New Orleans Mardi Gras season, numerous Second-line parades, various festivals such as the Jazz festival. I have also had the pleasure of capturing local artists, musicians, and reputable cultural groups.

With the world forever changing and everything becoming so fast-paced and transient, there is something so graceful about the old charm of this city. I especially love the old bars with their tattered and worn fixtures and how they serve as places of familiarity for the locals over the years. I love seeing the photo collages on the walls filled with smiling faces and good times had.

This is a very unique curve in the world, it has birthed some of the world's greatest artists and creators whose contributions have transformed the arts all around the world. It’s imperative that the people and culture of New Orleans be supported, preserved, and respected.

The name ‘Curve City’ – Curve city is a byname I use to describe the city of New Orleans. The name was inspired by the Mississippi River and how it slithers and curves its way through the city.

This book is dedicated to the everyday souls of New Orleans, thank you for letting me experience this city in an authentic way and welcoming in a way that feels so familiar to me. Thank you to the generations that have lived here before and those that will live on in the future. Your lives, your stories, your hardships, and your victories are what make this city so incredibly unique and special.
